21 Simple Ways to help You and the Environment Stay Healthy!

1. Turn off lights, appliances, TVs, videos or PCs left on stand by, they continue to use a significant amount of energy - and waste money!

2. Don't turn up the central heating - put on an extra layer

3. Take a shower instead of a bath to conserve energy and water

4. Don't wash half-loads in the washing - wash a full load each which is more energy-efficient - and· saves you cash too!

5. Don't use car for short journeys, walk, cycle or travel by bus. You will save money, look healthier and feel fitter!

6. Recycle as much as possible - support the council's local kerbside recycling scheme

7. Encourage wildlife by putting up a bird or bat box in your garden.

8. On the barbecue use locally produced charcoal that is readily regrown through coppicing

9. Combine tasks when using the car to save on unnecessary journeys

10. Try to avoid buying over-packaged goods - 64% of the cost of most items is spent on packaging!

11. Turn down the heating by 1 degree and knock 10% off your heating bills

12. Drive your car smoothly and within the speed limit - driving at 50mph can use 25% less fuel than driving at 70 mph
